Protect your pet from deadly parasites by deworming them regularly.
Deworming is all about kicking the parasites out and getting the preventative medicine in. It is an ongoing process that involves providing medication to your pet. Once administered, it turns your pet’s internal system into a hostile environment that discourages reproduction and dispels worms. Getting your pet dewormed should be a part of their health care routine. Call us at 403-527-4888 to get your pet started on a deworming plan, and to get yourself some peace of mind.
How often they are dewormed depends on their exposure. This could vary and should be discussed with your veterinarian at your appointment. However, kittens and puppies should start getting their first rounds of deworming medication when they are about 2-weeks-old. This should continue biweekly until they are 3-months-old. This is not a treatment that can afford to be neglected. You never know when your pet may have an infectious encounter. Once the deworming medication has worn off, they are at risk of contracting worms and spreading them.
Your pet can contract a long list of worms, including tapeworm, roundworms and heartworms. They can also contract giardia, tiny parasitic germs that cause abdominal pain and diarrhea. Keep in mind, all of these parasites (except heartworm, which only mildly affects humans) can be transmitted to humans.
