Kaylin Baum

Veterinary Assistant
I chose the veterinary field because I wanted to work in a challenging industry that would keep me on my toes each and every day while learning all the time. I enjoy being around lots of people and having conservation all the time, which I missed in my previous career. The fast-paced environment and working with veterinarians who coordinate information to diagnose and treat patients is something I really enjoy about working in a vet clinic and of course all the animals! I graduated with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with an emphasis in Marketing in 2011 and returned to undergraduate studies in 2017 to pursue a DVM program. I am currently enrolled at the University of Lethbridge in my final year of my Biology degree and am applying for veterinary school. I really enjoy working with large animals at the clinic and going out on farm calls with our veterinarians. It is a bit more physically challenging working with large animals and I also find myself really enjoying working in the pharmacy, filling prescriptions and learning what medications are treating which diagnoses. The staff at AMC are so much fun to work with, I may not be there all the time due to school but am welcomed every time like I was there yesterday. I learn a lot from every staff member at different levels of work, as they are all very knowledgeable people. I like the busy fast-paced environment working in the clinic and talking with clients about their pets. I used to have an old wooden sled and two Siberian huskies who have competed in sled races and even won prizes! We started out in Calgary where in the winter months you could find the huskies pulling me in the sled along the Bow River heading downtown and back.
